Freddy’s Foreword
Once upon a time (actually not so long ago), a tiny cutie wandered around. She had no name, no food, and the little water she found was from puddles that had not yet dried up.
For weeks, she roamed around houses, looking for a little bit of food, a little bit of love.
But all she found was a lack of concern, sometimes even hostility. She was getting thinner day by day; her once beautiful and thick coat had become dull and sparse. Her very survival was at stake.
Then one day…
In the Words of Louise
The morning of Sunday, April 2nd 2017, was like any other Sunday morning. Ben, my husband, heard some meows coming from outside; I was upstairs at the time, so he shouted for me to come downstairs. We both went out to look, and there was this little tortoiseshell cat. She was meowing and meowing; she looked skinny and had short fur.
We noticed straight away how loving she was with us. We put some water into a bowl for her and put it outside; we didn’t feed her at this point as we were unsure if she had a home. So we gave her some fuss and then went about the day, all the time keeping our eyes out to make sure the little tortie cat was still in our garden.
Biscuit stayed in the garden all day; Ben and I took turns checking on her and making her fuss. In the evening, we decided to let her into our house. We left the back door open, just in case Biscuit wanted to go back outside. She curled up on the sofa and started purring, then she got up, went outside, used the toilet in some stones in the garden, and then came straight back in and curled up in the same place on the sofa.
The next day we took Biscuit to the vet to see if she had a microchip; she had no microchip. The vet asked what we wanted to do, so we took Biscuit home. She is now microchipped, and her fur is much healthier and shiny. At first, Biscuit was a little wary and scared, but she soon settled into her forever home. She loves to follow Ben and me and is never far away from us. We can tell how grateful our Biscuit is; she just knew somehow to choose our garden.
In the Meows of Biscuit
It was a lovely sunny morning; I’m not so sure of the day as I’m a cat. I decided I liked the look of this garden; little did the house owners know that I had been checking out their garden for a few days.
Well, on this day, I decided to get closer to the back door and meowed and meowed.
Then the door opened, and it was a man. He came outside, and then a lady followed him. I meowed and meowed at them and allowed them to fuss over me.
They went back inside after a while, and I wondered if they were coming back. After what seemed like forever, they both came back outside with a dish full of water for me.
They kept checking on me all day, and I thought, why don’t you just let me inside? I want to see you inside your house.
I stayed by the back door all day. Eventually, I was allowed inside; I couldn’t believe it. I walked in, sniffed around, and saw two comfy bed-looking things. Apparently, they are called sofas. I jumped up on one and curled up, and had a little snooze. The door was left open; I’m not sure why.
I decided I needed to use the toilet, so I went back outside, used the ‘restroom’ on stones, and returned inside to jump up on the sofa again. I knew you were my mum and dad; I’ve adopted you both.
The next day I had a surprise as I was put into a carrier and taken to a place called the vet.
The vet put a scanner on me and told my mum and dad that I had no microchip. They took me straight back home with them.
I’ve never looked back; I’m a happy, loving indoor cat with lots of toys, beds, blankies, tunnels, and windows so I can keep watch on the birbs and everything I could ever want. Thank you, mum and dad, for letting me adopt you both and giving me my loving furever home.

Now, here is a question, dear friends:
Who was the most impatient back then? Biscuit, to be inside the house or Louise and Ben to see her settle in?
Thank you, Biscuit, my friend, for sharing your story with our readers!
