I hope you had a lovely Sunday! Today was the first rain-free day since October 17th in Paris – quite memorable.
Let’s climb on the Eiffel Tower today. Here is your virtual visit. The tower is known worldwide, but how many, even among Parisians, have reached its summit? Like many locals, Mum admired it mostly from afar during the dazzling Bastille Day and New Year fireworks.
As we stand at its base, two options await: scaling the 674 steps or whisking up by elevator. The choice is yours - a thrilling climb with breathtaking stops, including the first level's '58 Tour Eiffel' brasserie, or a swift elevator ride to the second level, sparing your legs but missing out on some hidden gems.
Arriving at the second level, you're at the doorstep of the famous Michelin-starred ‘Le Jules Verne’ restaurant. If you want to dine here, you need to plan ahead – bookings are required a year in advance, and I'm not sure it is worth the astronomic price it costs - Mum has heard some negative critics.
At the summit, stop at ‘Bar in the Cloud’ and enjoy the glass of Champagne with Paris sprawling beneath you. Don't miss the reconstructed office of Gustave Eiffel, with wax figures of Eiffel and Thomas Edison – a step back in time!
Did you know? The Eiffel Tower, initially a subject of controversy, was nearly a temporary fixture in Paris. Thanks to Eiffel’s dedication and its unforeseen role in communication, it escaped demolition, etching its silhouette permanently into the Paris skyline. The Eiffel Tower stands at a height of approximately 324 meters (1,063 feet) tall, including its antennas. This height makes it one of Paris's most recognisable and tallest structures.
Now it's time for the stories from our Twitter friends. So far, I shared Charlie, Scribbles (Maggie), Munch’s and Holly's stories. Today, please welcome the stories from Biscuit and Misty (written by myself). Next week, it will be the turn of Daisy and Tommy stories. All stories will be featured in my new book - which I plan to publish in about ten days.
Happy reading!
Your loving writer,
Freddy
The Eiffel Tower is a must see for any new tourists to France. Daisies Mom climbed it, but our Mom took the elevator. Seeing the younger breathe hard she’s glad she did. It’s a beautiful view on a good day. It’s made of Iron not steel. It was mined from east France and it’s a very sturdy structure. Mom would like to go back and see it again. Perhaps have a picnic nearby on the Champs de Mars. Thank you for sharing about it and its restaurants Freddy. It also used to have a post office and Daisies Mom used to take postcards to mail from there for their unique postmark.
Everyone please have a safe and happy week. Love to All 💛 Squeaky, BB and Mom ❤️
Fascinating and I would definitely love to visit but it would be the elevator for me 😹❤️
